I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day! This was my first Mother’s Day – because carrying a baby definitely counts – and I tell ya, I could get used to this Mother’s Day stuff. ๐ We had a pretty full weekend – movies, shopping, and spending time with mom. It was a great way to close out last week and begin this one.
Speaking of movies – we went to see The Great Gatsby in 3D. Although it did make more money than I thought it would its opening weekend, I can’t say I recommend it. I prefer Moulin Rouge or Romeo + Juliet to this latest Baz Luhrmann flick. I did watch Blow Out, a movie my husband has wanted to watch for quite some time and is available on DVD/Blu-Ray. Directed by Brian De Palma, I was mesmerized by this movie. The colors are beautiful, the story is simple and he directed his ass off. If anyone checks it out, let me know what you think!
Of course, all relaxing and fun weekends seem like they end too quickly, and this one was no different. I’ll try to continue the good vibes with a bit of Monday Inspiration!

Are you guys feelin’ 21st Century Fox’s new logo?
What about Instagram’s new logo?
Niice calls itself an inspiration search engine that shows reuslts from Dribbble, Behance and others. It’s still in beta tasting but seems like an awesome Pinterest-style site.
Crystal introduced me to Theron Humphrey‘s website and I LOVE it. He’s got some great projects on there but specifically, check out This Wild Idea-365, where he takes photographs of people across the country and talks to them about their life story. Along with all his other projects, he also has Maddie On Things, where he takes photos of his dog Maddie in interesting compositions.
I LOVE this beautiful wedding set. As much as I love colorful wedding invites, these evoke an elegance I can’t get enough of.
Speaking of wedding invites, how fun is this “Love at First Flight” wedding invitation?

I was debating whether to see The Great Gatsby or not. We finally decided to go to the theatre to only find out all the shows were already sold out. Then when I got home, I just read awful reviews about it. I am mixed on whether I should still see it or not. Looks like you have a good weekend ๐
I did have a good weekend! Super relaxing. I think people should see Great Gatsby if you really want to – but maybe not in theaters. I just didn’t think the acting was that great and it didn’t really flow evenly. I’m the biggest Leonardo DiCaprio fan but… even I have to say he was only so-so in this.
I saw Theron Humphrey speak at a National Geographic event earlier this year and his project was an inspiration for me to interview local people along our route when we do our cross-country bike tour. We’ll see how it all plays out!
Also, that designer/client pamphlet looks very useful. You should hand that out at meetings.
Oh, that’s awesome you heard him speak! I am really loving his work. And I cannot wait to hear about your cross-country trip! You are an inspiration, Crystal. ๐
HA! I would love to hand this out at meetings. Not sure it would be seen as useful though. ๐
The 21st century icon is nice…but the text is kind of uninspired. I don’t think I would recognize what the bug was supposed to represent without the text, but it could have been more subtle.
I agree about the text. But the icon associated with it – I immediately recognized that it was 21st Century… probably because I watch one too many movies. ๐
I just have to put myself in the non-movie goer place, I guess. Many logos under my belt.
Thanks so showing me Niice! Super cool. 21st century intrigues me! My first thought was “why is there an X-men(ish) symbol next to the name. About 5 seconds later, I got it. The video was cool and definitely helps. I’m super torn. I like it but I’m also confused cuz it gives off a comicbook-esque feel (to me). What do you think? ๐
You know, I like the icon because I definitely recognize it as their logo. But, I think it’s also because I watch a lot of movies and have seen their logo before. I’m a little more disappointed in the font they’ve chosen for “21st Century Fox.”
I think I like that the symbol/icon would be so easy to reproduce. lol Seems like a lot companies are opting to have much simpler icons – solid colors tend to feel more graphic, in my opinion.
Oh, and I’m really excited about Niice, too! I feel like I’m going to find so many more awesome things on there now! Monday Inspiration posts are going to get bombtastic!
