The movies were our calling this past weekend. Audy and I took Vee to see My Little Pony: The Movie in theaters. She wore her Rainbow Dash hoodie and took two of her pony stuffed animals to wave around while watching the movie. I never thought as an adult I would actually get into this show. I didn’t care for it much as a kid but these ponies have got a gumption I don’t remember seeing in my childhood version. I love being able to get excited for the things she loves. It’s all about building those core memories! Continue reading
I’m finishing up this post as I’m watching the Emmy’s and realizing how many of these shows I’ve watched over the past year. Television really does have such interesting stories and and entertainment. One of the shows I’ve heard so much about in the past was Top of the Lake. Seeing as how the new season has my girl, Gwendoline Christie, I wanted to start from the beginning. Although interesting at times, it was hard for me to sit through each episode more often than not. It just felt like it was draaaaaagging. Anyone else watch that show? What are your thoughts on it?
Summer is on its way out and I’m looking back at it so fondly. This is the first time where I feel like every weekend was filled with our leisurely pace of happiness. Pool lounging, slurpees, late night Krispy Kreme trips, water parks, eating dinner on the patio with nothing but the sound of the woods around us, and visiting with friends. For the last three years, we’ve ended our summer with an annual family beach trip and a birthday celebration for Vee. It was just as lovely this year as it has been in the past. She’s turning four tomorrow, man. FOUR. I remember pouring out my worries to my friend while I was pregnant, eventually admitting, “I hope she’s cool.” That’s all I wanted – a cool kid that I could laugh and hang out with. So far, my hope has been realized (mainly because she isn’t a teenager, yet). She loves dance parties, sings the Game of Thrones theme song, devours sour patch kids, plays make believe with her action figures, laughs at The LEGO Batman Movie, likes to sleep and cuddle in bed, and makes up her own words to songs. This probably isn’t that different from any other soon to be 4-year-old but without having anything to compare this to except for her younger self, she’s making good on my wish for her to be cool. IT’S AUGUST, GUYS! August. A few weeks ago, I felt like I had all the time in the world to work on summer projects, plan weekend getaways, etc. And although a lot of that has happened, I can’t help but wish I could’ve done more! Our weekends for the month of August are pretty much booked up, making it difficult to deviate from our plans but I’m sure we’ll sneak in some pool time. Continue reading
Last week passed by like a blur. I can recap it with only these words: sleep deprivation. I had a lot of freelance deadlines I had to meet which meant a lot of late nights for me. I feel motivated in times like that and productive, too. But looking at my average sleep on my fitbit results, I can’t help but cringe. Not good. Then came the crazy rains this area had over the weekend and I was able to for real sleep in a bit. I did more than half of my sister’s Disney puzzle she was putting together, watched old episodes of Project Runway, and it was bliss. I ended the weekend with breakfast with one of my girlfriends and listened to Audy record his latest episode for Cinema Samurai’s Film Don’t Lie Podcast. Continue reading
This summer has been a particularly difficult one to get motivated. Whether it’s the 9-5, personal projects, freelance work, or keeping Vee entertained, I find myself getting caught up in the dum dum of worry. It does happen less and less and I find myself letting go more often and wondering why I can’t do this all the time. Right now, I can feel myself sort of pulling out from this cuckoo mindset and enjoying silly things like Michael Phelps racing a “shark.” LOL did any of you watch that last night? Continue reading
It’s Monday evening and I’m still looking back on our weekend, misty-eyed, wishing it wasn’t over. Mondays are especially tough after you’ve had the weekend my family and I had. The weekend started with some guilty pleasure watching of Mighty Ducks… all. three. of. them. You read that right. The rest of the weekend followed with Krispy Kreme donuts, burgers, milkshakes, ice cream, leisurely walks in the city’s town center, and lego building. It’s what summers were made for and I still can’t believe we’re already halfway through it! Continue reading

Trying out Jake Parker’s InkTober prompts for this month. I’m starting a few days late but thought I could still use it as a way to explore these Peety character stories. I’m planning on posting for InkTober on Instagram more regularly for anyone interested in being introduced to more characters.
Until then, this is Anne.
